EU Services Offers Customers IMB Service

Rockville, MD -

Still using the old Postal Service barcode on your outbound mail?

If your organization hasn't made the switch to the new Intelligent Mail Barcode, known as OneCode IMB, you're missing out on a host of important benefits, says Chris Konkel, vice president of data processing for EU Services, a direct-marketing production company in Rockville, Md.

The advanced barcode offers several advantages, including the ability to identify and track individual pieces of mail and receive electronic address update information automatically. With its integrated address correction service, OneCode IMB also eliminates keylines, endorsements, and PLANET codes, allowing for a cleaner address block with more space for marketing messages, if mailers choose to include them. Best of all, the new technology promises environmental benefits by reducing waste associated with undeliverable mail.

Mailers who want to retain valuable automation discounts must use the new barcode technology starting in May 2009. Too many organizations are still using the old technology despite the many reasons to make the switch now, Konkel said.

"We've been preparing for the new barcode technology months in advance and really feel they are a benefit for clients. There's a huge dollar savings in undeliverables alone, which makes a great case for their use," Konkel said. "Your increased market intelligence regarding updated consumer and donor addresses warrants the effort, too, but the positive impact on the environment may be the best argument of all."
